Resting-State Functional Connectome in Patients with Brain Tumors Before and After Surgical Resection

2020

Purpose: High-grade glioma surgery has evolved around the principal belief that a safe maximal tumor resection improves symptoms, quality of life, and survival. Mapping brain function has been recently improved by resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rest-fMRI), a novel imaging technique that explores networks connectivity at “rest.” Methods: This prospective study analyzed 10 patients with high-grade glioma in whom rest-fMRI connectivity was assessed both in single-subject and in group analysis before and after surgery. Seed-based functional connectivity analysis was performed with CONN toolbox. Network identification focused on 8 major functional connectivity networks. A v…

The left occipitotemporal system in reading: disruption of focal fMRI connectivity to left inferior frontal and inferior parietal language areas in c…

2011

Developmental dyslexia is a severe reading disorder, which is characterized by dysfluent reading and impaired automaticity of visual word processing. Adults with dyslexia show functional deficits in several brain regions including the so-called "Visual Word Form Area" (VWFA), which is implicated in visual word processing and located within the larger left occipitotemporal VWF-System. The present study examines functional connections of the left occipitotemporal VWF-System with other major language areas in children with dyslexia. Functional connectivity MRI was used to assess connectivity of the VWF-System in 18 children with dyslexia and 24 age-matched controls (age 9.7-12.5 years) using f…

Bio-ecological approach applied to adolescents’ health: Girls and boys in situations of contextual disconnection

2011

International audience; In this study, we base on Bronfenbrenner’s bioecological model and propose to examine health behaviours of adolescents – girls and boys – in light of the Person-Context transactions. More precisely, we consider as a special issue the relations between health and degraded contextual Person-Family and/or Person-School transactions. One thousand and six French middle-school (8th grade) adolescents, 479 boys and 527 girls, took part in this study. They were categorized into four groups: Family disconnected adolescents, School disconnected adolescents, Double disconnected adolescents (that is, adolescents who are disconnected to both contexts), and Not disconnected adoles…

The growing attention that Europe pays to the risks of hyper connection in digital work, also with reference to public work, has enriched the debate on the advisability…
